A Fake ID is Easier to Obtain than you Think
When it comes to stealing someone’s identity having a fake ID that can pass as the victim is the key to unlocking the true potential of a stolen identity. You can then easily open bank accounts and take out loans without a witch. You would think that getting a fake ID is difficult, but it’s really not.
There are many websites out there that sell fake IDs. I am not sure how they get around the legal matter in doing so but they somehow manage to do so. Some of them of course are just scams to get you to send them money and they have no intention of sending you a fake ID. Others however do provide a product that can be used to pass as someone else. Some of the IDs are really poor in quality but others are pretty good fakes and would fool many people.
There was a case in Indianapolis where a guy had gotten a fake ID of his own name and then went to other registries and used other people’s information to obtain IDs of them. He then used the fake IDs to open multiple bank accounts and credit lines. He would then channel the money back to himself.
He was caught finally by a face recognition software that identified him as having more than one bank account in different names. The bank system tipped off the police and they caught him trying to get his sixth fake Identity.
Scary to think that someone can have 5 different IDs and no one noticed. It was only because he had two bank accounts in the same system that he was caught at all. It’s also scary to think about how easy it is to get a fake ID made for you and how easy it is to use it to open accounts or access others.
